Virtually every student took part in Wednesday’s mini marathon, running or walking a mile around the school and, hopefully, breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest number of young people participating in an exercise campaign in a month. Ably marshalled by a team of Year 12s, the participants either sauntered, jogged, scampered or galloped along the perimeter of St. Francis’ dressed in their House Colours of blue, red, green or purple. Beyond the world record attempt, the aim was to encourage our students to enjoy exercise and to appreciate some of Letchworth’s beautiful scenery. It was a superb community event which has given rise to an adaptation of the school motto: ‘one heart, one sole’. Special thanks to Mr Brownlee, Sophia Button and Mollie Stoner for helping to organise the event.
