A Fantastic First Week Back for DREAMS!
We are thrilled to share the highlights of our exciting first week back after half-term. Our DREAMS programme kicked off with a series of engaging and inspiring activities designed to foster both our students’ academic and personal growth. Below are some of the activities that took place.
Andrew, NLP Expert and Tennis Coach
We were honoured to host Andrew, a renowned NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) speaker with a rich background in high-performance sports. Andrew has developed both teams and individuals in elite environments and has worked with athletes from their early formative years to international competitors, including Wimbledon Champions Andy and Jamie Murray, Heather Watson, Laura Robson, and Mika Stojsavljevic. His insights into dedication, resilience, and peak performance truly inspired our students, encouraging them to strive for excellence in their own endeavours.
Alison from Best Before Cafe
Alison visited our Year 11 students to discuss the critical issue of food waste. Her presentation highlighted the impactful work being done in Letchworth and emphasised the importance of sustainability and community responsibility. This session not only raised awareness but also motivated our students to take actionable steps towards reducing food waste in their daily lives. To put this knowledge into action, the students took part in a Food Challenge to create a delicious pasta sauce from rescued pumpkins! This hands-on activity encouraged creativity in the kitchen while emphasising the value of reducing waste.
KAPLA STEM Workshop
Our partnership with KAPLA brought an exciting STEM workshop to the school. Students explored engineering and creativity. Working with building blocks, they learned about design and problem-solving, fostering a spirit of collaboration and critical thinking.
Debating Visit to St Albans
The Debating Club visited to help students enhance their public speaking and critical thinking abilities. Through structured debates, students learned to articulate their thoughts clearly, listen actively, and respect diverse perspectives.
Art Gallery Trip
A visit to the local Art Gallery provided our students with a cultural experience, allowing them to explore various forms of art and express their own creativity. This trip was a wonderful opportunity for artistic inspiration and appreciation.
Diwali Dance and Drama Workshop
In celebration of Diwali, students participated in a vibrant Dance and Drama workshop. This event not only highlighted the rich traditions of the festival but also promoted teamwork and cultural understanding.
Yoga and Boarding Activities
Our Yoga sessions and Boarding activities offered students a chance to relax and focus on their mental well-being whilst also fostering a sense of community.
Care Home Visit
In a wonderful display of empathy and leadership, students visited a local care home, connecting with residents and bringing smiles to their faces. This experience taught valuable lessons in compassion, patience, and the joy of giving back to the community.
