Year 1 children were very lucky to have a special visitor in class on Monday. Mrs Dickinson, Ellie’s granny, came into school to talk about her childhood. She spoke to the students about what school life was like and the types of toys she played with as a child. She even showed them clips of children’s television from her time, which the students thought were quite funny!
The children discovered that she had to wear a hat to school and change into indoor shoes upon arrival. They also learned that instead of interactive whiteboards, she used chalk boards, and that there was even a fire in the classroom to keep everyone warm in winter.
Before leaving, Mrs Dickinson gave the class several fascinating presents, including a folder filled with pictures of her school days, an ink well and pen, and some old-fashioned sweets. She also kindly gave each child a small gift to take home.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Dickinson for making history come to life for the Year 1 students!
