Last weekend, the Mr Pieris, Mrs O’Donnell and Miss Beaty represented the College at the 33rd Annual Conferences of NALDIC, the UK’s national subject association for EAL, either at the University of Leeds or online. The parallel events focused on the effective assessment of multilingual learners. Mr Pieris, a Trustee and Director of NALDIC, was involved in running both conferences, and Mrs O’Donnell delivered a very well-received session on her adapted unit of Macbeth.
The team returned to the College on Monday, inspired by invaluable insights and connections with EAL experts and linguists from around the world. A highlight for Mrs O’Donnell was meeting renowned expert Constant Leung, Professor of Educational Linguistics at King’s College London! Amongst the key messages reinforced throughout the conference was that assessment should be a dialogic, supportive and non-judgemental process.
We look forward to furthering our professional knowledge at #naldic34, next year!
