This half term, Year 3 are exploring The Iron Man as part of their narrative writing.
To help make the story feel more real, the children took part in a drama activity, imagining the morning after Hogarth’s encounter with the Iron Giant. In small groups, they considered what they might discover, including unusual damage, unfamiliar sounds or signs that something large had passed through.
They then stepped into the role of local farmers and gathered for a village meeting to share their ideas and concerns.
The photo shows part of this discussion, where pupils listened carefully to one another and responded thoughtfully. The activity supported their confidence in speaking and helped them develop their ideas before beginning their writing.
