Some of our Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed a real reading treat last Tuesday at the North Herts Schools Book Awards, held at Sir John Henry Newman School in Stevenage. 
They spent time meeting students from other schools and talking about the books they had been reading ahead of the event. They also had the chance to vote for their favourite from the shortlisted titles.
A highlight of the day was hearing from author Helen Comerford, who spoke about her books and shared her experience of getting published.
At the end of the event, each student received a free book and a bookmark to take home.
It was a lovely experience that encouraged their interest in reading and helped build their confidence while giving them something to think about for the future.
