Boarding

There are opportunities to board at St. Francis’ from Year 6, and there is the option of day, weekly or flexi boarding, although the majority of students board full-time.

The boarding house has a lovely family atmosphere supported by experienced boarding staff and academic tutors.  Boarding comes with a built-in social life, which means that the girls will be living with their friends – a recipe for fun.

Our boarding house is located over the top two floors of the main building. All the socially important parts of the school are within easy reach of the accommodation and without leaving the building: the Chapel, the Dining Hall, the library and all the study rooms; this is what we call home away from home.

We offer different types of accommodation: younger students share with other 2 or 3 girls, GCSE students are usually in twin rooms and the Sixth Form students are allocated individual rooms.

St. Francis’ College has a long and successful tradition of welcoming students from the UK and all over the world. Our international students are integrated into every aspect of College life; they follow a full curriculum and participate in a wide range of social events and activities.

We are proud of the cultural diversity of our boarding community, which currently includes more than 10 different nationalities.  For some of our international students joining us is an opportunity to improve their English and experience a different culture; while for others we provide the opportunity to study for UK qualifications (GCSE and A Levels), and gain access to leading UK universities.  Whatever the reason, all UK and international students are fully integrated into our whole school community and fully enjoy our boarding school experience.
