Goodbye to Blue Tits

Goodbye to Blue Tits

We said goodbye to our blue tits at half term.  Nine eggs were laid, seven chicks hatched but only two survived to fledge.  Nationally, blue tits have not produced many young this year as the wet weather in May meant there were fewer caterpillars.  Unlike house sparrows and some other birds which lay more than one clutch of eggs each year, blue tits only lay one clutch, so numbers of blue tits will be lower until next spring.
