Biology: quail chick report

October 06, 2018

After 17 days in the Biology department’s incubator, one quail chick hatched on Thursday.  Unfortunately, it seems that the other six eggs may be infertile, and without other quails around, the baby quail kept calling and spent time looking for others rather than feeding.  Fortunately, Year 10 biologists were on hand and took it upon themselves to offer a feeding rota – each girl in turn taking two minutes out of her lesson to coax the baby into feeding.  We think they have been successful, but the baby is now imprinted on human hands which it thinks are its mother!
