Mock Elections

December 06, 2019

On Thursday 5th December, a week before the actual general election, the students and staff at St. Francis’ College were asked to vote for the party that they would like to represent them if the College were a constituency in the real election. Students were provided with an explanation on general elections, how people normally vote and a summary of the main policies for each of the parties on the ballot paper. Needless to say, some students thought I had made up the Monster Raving Loony Party!

The Politics students in the 6th Form ran the day, counted all the votes and produced a paper commenting on the results that would be in line with BBC coverage! Thanks to all the staff and students who took part in the exercise and a special recognition to my 6th Form classes and additional helpers for ensuring that the event ran smoothly.
