Biology Department Update

June 11, 2020

Since the start of the lockdown, our Biology department has been tweeting daily through our Twitter account with natural history news and quiz questions.  We have seen how the quail chicks that we hatched in October are now healthy adults and we have had updates on Kobe (tortoise), Florence (leopard gecko) and the other lab animals that staff are currently looking after at their homes.

We have seen how to grow plants from vegetable scraps and which animals, plants and fungi to look out for in the countryside, including dragonflies, red kites, the nationally important Grizzled Skipper butterfly and roadside plants.  We have also seen some of the more unusual animals kept by Biology staff.  To read the daily updates, follow @StFrancisHerts #SFCBioBlog
