Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

It is with great sadness that the St. Francis’ College community have heard the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral, her Scottish home where she enjoyed spending every summer.

The College recognises the truly outstanding and unique contribution that the Queen has made to British society and to peoples from all over the Commonwealth and other nations. She will be truly missed. Such is the global affection, respect and admiration for Her Majesty, the College will reflect and recognise this in this tragic moment.

The College, before the Summer, celebrated the Platinum Jubilee along with the rest of the country and planted a cherry tree in her honour in our Loggia Garden. We will be thinking of Her Majesty as we care and nurture that tree in the years ahead.

Mr James Nichols, Head, has remarked that “Her Majesty reigned longer than any other monarch, recently inviting her fifteenth Prime Minister to form a government. She has overseen fundamental changes to British society that have been unseen by the vast majority of the world’s population. For many, her dedication to service and her comforting presence have been the main constant in their lives. The College will be undertaking numerous events to commemorate her contribution”.

The thoughts of the entire College community go out to all the members of the Royal Family.

God bless the Queen.
