Sixth Form Revue
Just before the half-term break in February, we have something super exciting called the Sixth Form Revue. It’s like a big show where our Year 12 students take charge. They write the script, organise the acts, and make sure everything runs smoothly. We get to see almost everyone from their Year on stage, and everyone gets involved in some way – performing, set designing, or working behind the scenes. It’s a real test of teamwork and organisation skills. They must plan, communicate, and work together – all of which is a great confidence booster. The Revue is a fantastic way to have an entertaining afternoon at our College!
St. Francis’ Annual Recycled Fashion Show
The Annual Recycled Fashion Show is a fantastic event that takes place in early October for students in Years 7–9. The theme is announced well in advance, giving students plenty of time to design and create their costumes. The event celebrates creativity and sustainability, encouraging students to transform recycled and repurposed materials into imaginative fashion pieces. At the end of the show, the audience votes for their favourite designs.
A group of Sixth Form students take responsibility for organising the entire event, with guidance from the Head of Art and the Head of Sixth Form. They manage all the entry information and ensure everything is ready for the programme, which they also design. They set up the stage, organise the running order, and write the script for the show. On the day, they help with welcoming guests, managing the audience, and overseeing all the technical aspects, including lighting and music.
A small team of Sixth Form hosts presents the show, helping to keep the event running smoothly from start to finish. The Recycled Fashion Show is always a highlight of the school calendar and is greatly enjoyed by students and families alike. It also provides Sixth Form students with the opportunity to develop a wide range of valuable skills, including teamwork, creativity, organisation, communication, presentation, public speaking, problem-solving, and the ability to think on their feet.
