Sixth Form

Miss Rachael Hodgson, Head of Sixth Form

Miss Hodgson, recently completed an MSc in Psychology of Education at the University of Bristol, further developing her understanding of the significant impact teachers can have on pupils’ futures, not only through academic achievement but also by building self confidence and developing valuable transferable skills.

Prior to her MSc, she spent eleven years working in schools across Cumbria and Northamptonshire. Most recently, she held the roles of Head of Inclusion and Counter Bullying and Head of Classics. Throughout her career, she has particularly enjoyed working as a pastoral tutor, especially with Sixth Form pupils.

Welcome to the Sixth Form

Your two years in Sixth Form mark the pinnacle of your school career, and you deserve an experience to remember.

On the academic side you will be studying only those subjects that you have personally chosen, and you will have much more autonomy and independence in managing your time out of lessons. At the same time, there are a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities for you to choose from, whether it’s testing your business acumen, embarking on an overseas trip, trekking through the wilderness for your Gold DofE, helping our friends in Kanyike, Uganda, or representing the interests of a nation at the Model United Nations conference. There’s so much here to enjoy, as well as ample opportunities to develop those all-important skills of teamwork, leadership and self-organisation.

Your academic progress will, of course, be your priority. It is clear from our examination results that St. Francis’ College is the right environment to help you achieve the very highest grades. Click here go to our Results and Destinations page
